Day off at the Beach
Day off at the Beach was designed and painted by professional award-winning deaf contemporary artist, Olivier Jamin.
Design summary
Imagine a guide dog owner with their dog romping along the beach, leaving foot and pawprints, creating patterns, rhythms, and vibrations in the sand in a visual representation of sound. When the owner removes the dog’s working harness, the dog knows it’s playtime, and can run and explore, until it’s time to put the harness back on.
Sensory items
We asked our artists to come up with a scent and a touch item that relates to their design to give a multi-sensory perspective to their concept. Some of these items will be incorporated into our sighted guide and sensory tours. Olivier's sensory items are:
- Touch item: Pebbles and sand.
- Scent item: Salty seawater.
