Alice, an artist from Leamington Spa, regularly transforms the front of Rustic Food café, which she co-owns with her partner, with themed window murals. When she decided to sign up to the London Marathon this year and raise money for Guide Dogs, she set to work creating a Guide Dogs themed window – and this is the result!
The window mural, which shows a selection of our dogs at different stages of their training, alongside the London Skyline, can be found at the café on Regent Street, in Leamington Spa. Alice hopes the window will help her to raise £4000 for Guide Dogs, as well as awareness of our volunteering roles.
Alice said: “Raising awareness and funds for Guide Dogs, whilst embarking on the challenge of the London Marathon 2023, fits perfectly with my ambitions as an artist - so I thought, why not!
“The plan is to create competitions involving the local community through my art murals and pet portraits, hopefully raising the target of £4,000, and awareness of the Fostering and Puppy Raising volunteering roles at Guide Dogs too.
“The Guide Dogs charity has great people, doing even greater things, and I feel very lucky to be working alongside them.”
As well as running the marathon for us, Rustic Food has also been providing local staff with free hots drinks and complimentary buffet food for staff at our Midlands Regional Centre in Leamington Spa.
Graham Kensett, Head of Canine Assisted Services for the Midlands and East region at Guide Dogs, said: “We’re extremely grateful to Alice and everyone at Rustic Food for their support.
“The window mural which Alice has created is a fantastic, fun way to showcase the work we do here at Guide Dogs.
“We’re working hard to recruit more volunteers locally, into a variety of roles, so hopefully the mural may encourage people to find out more about volunteering for us, as well as encouraging people to donate towards Alice’s marathon fund.
“We wish Alice the best of luck with her training and hope the race goes well in April.”
Alice and her team can give a full visual description of the window mural to anyone who may require it.
