To celebrate Guide Dogs Puppy Appeal month, ITV’s ‘Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh’ is welcoming a new member to the ‘Love Your Weekend’ family – a guide dog puppy!

Adorable nine-week-old golden retriever-Labrador cross puppy Titch was introduced to ITV viewers on Sunday 6 October, and is set to become a series regular.

At present just a bundle of golden fluff, Titch has a long way to go before he becomes a life-changing guide dog for someone living with sight loss. He is in the experienced hands of his volunteer Puppy Raisers, Alan and Jacqui Falder, who live close to the ‘Love Your Weekend’ set in Hampshire.

Alan Titchmarsh sits on straw bales in a sunny field and chats with Haley Andrews, Head of Puppy Raising and Claire Cobbold, Guide Dogs Volunteer. They are being filmed.

Guide Dogs have named puppy Titch to mark the start of the Guide Dogs Puppy Appeal, which is held every October for the anniversary of the very first guide dog partnerships in the UK back in 1931.

Alan Titchmarsh was thrilled to meet his puppy namesake for the very first time on the show and said: “It’s such an honour to have such an important puppy named after me and support the Guide Dogs Puppy Appeal.

“Titch seems to be a very confident and bright little chap – I’m sure he’s got what it takes to become a guide dog someday. I’m looking forward to following his progress in the meantime."

Pam White, National Fundraising Campaigns Manager for Guide Dogs added: “This year 1,300 puppies, including Titch, will start their journey to become a life-changing guide dog. We really need people to support the Guide Dogs Puppy Appeal to help turn these amazing pups into partnerships."
