Lasting memorials

Around the UK, Guide Dogs has transformed the lives of blind and partially sighted people for more than 80 years. You can now make your loved one a permanent part of this life-changing work by dedicating a specially inscribed brick in their memory to be placed in one of our pathways.

Our Paths of Support and Remembrance celebrate those who loved our work. As you honour the life of your loved one, whether a human or animal companion, your gift will help more visually impaired people to enjoy the same freedom as everyone else.

The pathways are at our Training Schools in Redbridge, London; Atherton, Manchester; Forfar, Scotland, and at our Guide Dogs National Centre near Leamington Spa. These special pathways are wonderful lasting memorials, allowing visitors to pause and reflect on those who are remembered in this way.

Bricks are available in two sizes, and feature a paw print. The single brick holds two lines of inscription, with 14 characters per line (including spaces) and can be dedicated for a minimum donation of £500. A double brick holds four lines of inscription and can be dedicated for a minimum donation of £1,000.

When my Mum passed away I wanted something to remember her by that was lasting, something with my Mum’s name on that had a connection to the place where she had lived all her life. Given my life-long interest in Guide Dogs and the fact that the Atherton Training School is so close to my old home, I thought that this would be a wonderful way to celebrate my parents’ lives.

We wanted to do something special to remember Mum and Dad; as a family, we’ve always loved Guide Dogs. After being involved in puppy raising (formerly called puppy walking), Mum and Dad used to be breeding dog holders - brood (formerly called a brood bitch holder), looking after some of the guide dog mums, so the centre has always held a special place in our hearts. It’s also where the very start of the guide dog journey begins, so it’s wonderful to be able to place a brick in the Path of Remembrance here.
