Research

Through our research programme we undertake quality research that provides a sound evidence base for Guide Dogs’ policies, operational procedures and campaigns. This allows us to provide people with sight loss with the knowledge and choice of services they require to enable them to live actively, independently and well.

The research we carry out at Guide Dogs, both internally and in collaboration with external organisations, helps us understand the needs of our service users as well as take care of our dogs. Our two priority research areas are:

Canine science – to support the behaviour, health and wellbeing of our dogs.

Human behavioural sciences – to support the emotional wellbeing of our service users, their family and friends.

To support the launch of our eye conditions hub and to help us understand how well adults in the UK look after their eyes, we conducted an eye health survey. Take a look at the results, they're quite surprising!
